Monotonprodukt 07 (1981) is so alive with the pulses that triggered many Electronicas to come, from Techno through Trance to Mego's creeping static, you could make a case for Becker's guruhood. Yet, for all its prescient washed out tones, threadbare textures and Minimalist rigour, it has the edge on much that followed. Adopting an imperious art stance towards mainstreams and margins alike, Becker cast a cold analytic eye over Electronica's urfathers, picking up on Suicide's jittertronic urgency, if not their melodrama, and DAF's throbbing sequencers, but with the sex threat removed, which he patched into his own crackling circuits, hissing vistas and tumbling beatstreams. |

| Konrad Becker is a founding member of Monoton, providers of distinguished electronic soundscapes and psycho-acoustics. Konrad Becker is a hypermedia researcher/developer, interdisciplinary event and content designer. He is chairman of the Institute for New Culture Technologies, Director of Public Netbase/ t0, a Culture and Youth oriented Center for New Communication Technologies in Vienna and founder of World-Information.Org, a cultural intelligence provider. Konrad Becker has been active in electronic media as artist, curator, organiser and producer. Numerous intermedia productions, exhibitions, and eventdesigns for international festivals and institutions, TV-stations, museums and galleries since 1979. Publication of mediaworks, electronic audiovisual products and theoretical texts. Participation in conferences and symposia, radio-broadcasts and TV-programmes, lectures and positions at international universities. He is member of various boards and committees on Information- and Communication Technologies and culture. |
