| Alexandre St-Onge is a sound-performance artist, bass player (although this may not always be the most evident thing about his art) and context improviser. His works document and isolate certain actions that are connected by the dislocation and disintegration of various representational objects (images and language, for example) into sound excrement. The audio objects that survive the autopsy are no more than hard-drive dust or parasitic noise of various origins. St-Onge has detailed this phenomenon in Kasi Naigo (Squint Fucker Press), Une mâchoire et deux trous (Namskéio), Image/Négation (Alien 8 Recordings), ( ), and Je ne dis presque rien quand je me mets à dire (private publication). He is also a member of a number of high-volume musical groups, including Undo (with Christof Migone), Ci Dy (with Sam Shalabi), Klaxon Gueule (with Michel F. Côté and Bernard Falaise: their three CDs — Muets, Bavards and Grain — are on the Ambiances Magnétiques label), and with musicians such as John Heward, David Kristian, Éric Létourneau, Maryse Poulin and Rainer Wiens in a number of other groups. As a composer he has collaborated on works for dance (with Maryse Poulin, Marie-Claude Poulin, Mariko Tanabe, Estelle Clareton, and so on), for theater and for video. | |||||
